Overview
de Laurent Ventures is seeking a California-licensed CPA to serve as the day-one Managing Partner and operating leader for the potential acquisition of an established Los Angeles CPA firm.
This is a partner-level operating role, not a staff CPA position. The target practice is a long-standing CPA firm with a tenured staff and a client base composed primarily of business entities, partnerships, S corporations, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and closely held businesses. The firm also performs reviews, compilations, bookkeeping, tax planning, and consulting work.
The Role
The CPA Operator must be capable of stepping into the leadership seat immediately after closing. Responsibilities include:
- Managing daily operations and supervising staff.
- Leading tax consultations.
- Reviewing and signing staff-prepared returns.
- Overseeing reviews and compilations.
- Maintaining client relationships.
- Ensuring quality control, compliance, workflow discipline, and deadline management.
Required Qualifications
- Active California CPA license in good standing.
- Experience with reviews and compilations.
- Strong corporate and partnership tax expertise.
- Experience reviewing and signing staff-prepared returns.
- Prior CPA firm management or senior leadership experience.
Preferred Background
- Partner, principal, senior manager, or practice-leadership experience.
- Existing Los Angeles professional presence.
- Familiarity with UltraTax or Thomson Reuters systems.
- Interest in equity participation, profit sharing, or a long-term operating partner role.
Compensation & Equity
Compensation will include a base salary of $150,000-$250,000, performance bonus potential tied to client retention, profitability, and operational milestones, and potential equity or long-term incentive participation.
Exact economics will depend on experience, licensure, operational capability, any capital contribution, and agreed role scope.
